Energy Focus, Inc. Elects Three New Members to Its Board of Directors


SOLON, Ohio, July 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energy Focus, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies, today announced the election of three new directors, Ronald D. Black, Glenda Dorchak and Marc J. Eisenberg.

At its annual meeting of stockholders held on July 22, 2015 at the Company's headquarters in Solon, Ohio, stockholders elected eight members to serve on the Company's Board of Directors, including new members Ronald D. Black, Glenda Dorchak and Marc J. Eisenberg.

Ronald D. Black, Ph.D. is the Chief Executive Officer and President and a board director of Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS), a Silicon Valley based technology company that develops advanced semiconductor memory and security products, as well as LED lighting technologies. Dr. Black has over 20 years of experience managing businesses and leading companies in the global semiconductor and mobile communications industries. He spent the first ten years of his career at IBM Microelectronics and Motorola Semiconductor Products, and progressed rapidly to general manager and business unit manager roles in both companies. Dr. Black brings to the Energy Focus board extensive leadership, organizational and operating insights from various global high-tech industries.

Glenda Dorchak is an experienced public board director with extensive operating experience as a corporate executive with leading global technology companies including Intel Corporation and IBM Corporation. Ms. Dorchak has been on the board of Mellanox Technologies (NASDAQ:MLNX) since 2009. She is also an Operating Advisor to OMERS Private Equity and is on the Strategic Advisory Board for BDC Capital Industrial, Clean and Energy Technology Venture Fund. Ms. Dorchak most recently was Executive Vice President of Spansion, Inc., a company that designs, develops and manufactures flash memory microcontrollers, missed-signal and analog products, as well as system-on-chip solutions which was acquired by Cypress Semiconductors in 2014. Ms. Dorchak brings to Energy Focus expertise in scaling up entrepreneurial, technology operations across global markets, as well as a wealth of corporate governance experiences for private and public companies.

Marc J. Eisenberg is the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of ORBCOMM Inc. (NASDAQ:ORBC), a global provider of machine-to-machine satellite communications offering asset monitoring and messaging services.  Mr. Eisenberg was part of a group that purchased ORBCOMM in 2001 when it posted virtually no annual revenues and subsequently became a member of its core management team in restructuring and growing its business to $30 million in annual sales in 2008, when Mr. Eisenberg was appointed the company's Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, ORBCOMM's annual revenues have been growing consistently and are projected to exceed $170 million in 2015.  With his track record in building ORBCOMM from an upstart to a market leader, Mr. Eisenberg brings to Energy Focus extensive experience in global marketing, strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions.

Dr. Black has served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Rambus Inc. since June 2012 and as a Director of Rambus Inc. since July 2012. Ms. Dorchak was Executive Vice President and General Manager of Global Business for Spansion, Inc., a Sunnyvale, California based flash memory provider from April 2012 to June 2013. From January 2009 until September 2010, when it was acquired by Red Bend Software, Ms. Dorchak was the Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of VirtualLogix, Inc., a Sunnyvale, California based provider of virtualization software for wireless and embedded devices. Prior to VirtualLogix, Inc., she served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. from August 2006 to November 2008 where she had also served as an independent director September 2003 to December 2004. Ms. Dorchak was an executive with Intel Corporation from 2001 to 2006, including serving as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Intel Corporation's Communications Group; Vice President and General Manager of Intel's Consumer Electronics Group; and Vice President and General Manager of the Broadband Products Group. Her career began with IBM in 1974 through to 1993 where she held multiple positions including Director and general manager PC Direct.  Glenda is an advisor to OMERS Private Equity, on the strategic advisory board for BDC Capital Industrial, Clean and Energy Technology Venture Fund, and belongs to the National Association of Corporate Directors.
