First Tennessee Foundation to Match Donations for Slain Service Members' Families in Chattanooga

Will Match Up to $15,000 in Total Gifts Brought to Any First Tennessee Branch

MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Donations to benefit the families of the four Marines and one sailor killed in the July 16 attack on a military operations center in Chattanooga will be matched by the First Tennessee Foundation, up to a total of $15,000. Donations to the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga brought to any First Tennessee Bank branch throughout Tennessee by Aug. 14 will be eligible for the match.

"Our community has come together to support our military service members who put themselves in harm's way for us," said Keith Sanford, First Tennessee's Chattanooga market president. "We urge the public to generously help the families of these heroes who paid the ultimate price." Bank employees will accept checks or cash contributions to be deposited in a dedicated account.

"At First Tennessee we have strong ties to our communities, and this is one way we honor that commitment," said David Popwell, president of banking for First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN), First Tennessee's parent company. "The outpouring of solidarity and support in Chattanooga has been amazing, and we hope this matching gift gives people across Tennessee a tangible way to show they care for our friends and neighbors to the southeast."

First Tennessee established the First Tennessee Foundation in 1993 to invest in the communities the bank serves. Last year, in honor of First Tennessee's 150th anniversary, the foundation's 150 Days of Giving gave away $5,000 a day for 150 days to nonprofits selected by 1.5 million online votes.
