OMA's Culiacan Airport Receives Environmental Certification for the Seventh Time

MONTERREY, Mexico, July 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), announces that its Culiacán International Airport has received a Certification for Environmental Quality from the Mexican Environmental Protection Agency (PROFEPA). This is the seventh consecutive occasion that the Culiacán airport has been recognized.

Since 2002, the Culiacán airport has voluntarily participated in the National Program for Environmental Audits (PNAA, in the Spanish acronym). The biennial certification recognizes compliance with legal obligations in environmental matters, protection of the environment, and mitigation of operational impacts.

This achievement has been made possible through investments in productive processes that reduce water and electricity usage; improve air, soil, and subsoil quality; and management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Certification also recognizes ongoing environmental education programs and evaluation of contingency plans for managing environmental emergencies, which reduces the risk of accidental environmental impacts.

The Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, and Tampico airports also voluntarily participate in the PNAA program and have received environmental quality certification. OMA's other airports are carrying out pre-audits as part of the initial process for receiving certification.
