American Jobs at Risk by House Plan to Adjourn Without Reauthorizing Ex-Im Bank

WASHINGTON, July 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The following is a statement by Alex Flint, NEI's senior vice president for governmental affairs, about Congress's decision to adjourn for its summer break without reauthorizing the charter of the U.S. Export-Import Bank.

"While the nuclear industry is pleased with the strong vote in the Senate for the reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, it is unfortunate that House members plan to go home without taking action on this issue.

"Every day that passes without the bank being reauthorized impacts the ability of U.S. manufacturers and suppliers to compete in international markets. American companies that export nuclear goods will now find themselves at a disadvantage in global markets, resulting in thousands of lost jobs.

"We urge Congress, as soon as it reconvenes, to do what is right for American workers and businesses of all sizes and reauthorize the Ex-Im Bank."
