First Sensor AG and Optoi Group agree a strategic partnership

Supplementation of the First Sensor product range and access to SiPM
technology thanks to cooperation in development, manufacturing, and sales
Berlin, August 5, 2015 - First Sensor AG, one of the world's leading
suppliers in the field of sensor systems, and Optoi Group, a leading
Italian provider of SiPM (silicon photomultiplier) technology, will work
together in development, manufacturing and distribution of optical sensors
and systems. The corresponding Cross Distribution Agreement has an initial
term for 36 months.
"The aim of our partnership is to expand our range of products and
applications with the aid of the SiPM technology. Therefore we will work in
close cooperation in development as well as manufacturing and sales", says
Dr. Martin U. Schefter, CEO First Sensor AG. Besides SiPMs, the cooperation
includes optical sensors for industrial automation, off-highway market and
colorimeters as modules for system integration.
"The cooperation will allow us to leverage significant potential in the
area of sales in particular. The Optoi Group has production sites in Italy
and already plans for South America, markets where we also have a growing
sales network. Thanks to the cooperation, we are opening up this network to
First Sensor products while simultaneously introducing our products in
Germany, Asia and the USA via First Sensor's sales organization," commented
Alfredo Maglione, President of Optoelettronica Italia S.r.l.
Optoi was founded in Trento in 1995 as the first spin-off company of the
Center for Scientific and Technological Research (ITC-irst), now called
Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK). The company manufactures and sells
microelectronic silicon sensors, hybrid modules and microsystems, smart
electronic systems, as well as microelectronic MEMS (Micro
Electro-Mechanical Systems) devices for both standard and custom
applications in the industrial, environmental, biomedical and aerospace
sector.
