MONTERREY, Mexico, Aug. 5, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 16.0% in July 2015, as compared to July 2014. Domestic traffic increased 14.2%, and international traffic increased 28.7%.
Of total July traffic, 98.3% was commercial aviation and 1.7% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in all 13 airports in July. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+13.4%; +86,238 passengers), Culiacán (+14.8%; +16,920), Chihuahua (+16.9%; +14,876), Acapulco (+21.0%; +11,455), Ciudad Juárez (+14.9%; +11,085), and Tampico (+17.4%; +10,253). Monterrey traffic increased principally on the Mexico City, Villahermosa, and Bajío routes. Culiacán increased traffic on its Mexico City, Monterrey, La Paz, and San José del Cabo routes. The Chihuahua, Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, and Tampico airports increased traffic on their Mexico City routes.
In July, TAR opened the Durango-Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán-Guadalajara, and Mazatlán-La Paz routes.
International traffic increased in eight airports in July. Traffic increased most significantly in Monterrey (+39.9%; +40,801 passengers), principally as a result of increased traffic on the Houston, Miami, Las Vegas, New York, and Los Angeles routes.
The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in July increased 0.8% as compared to the same month of 2014. The number of domestic operations decreased 1.0% and international operations increased 14.2%.
