USHCC Applauds Comcast NBCUniversal for Joining the Billion Dollar Roundtable

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) applauds Comcast NBCUniversal for being inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR), an organization now consisting of 21 globally-renowned corporations, created to recognize and celebrate those companies investing at least $1 billion annually with minority and women-owned suppliers. Comcast's membership in the BDR will allow it to share best practices with other like-minded corporations committed to diversity and inclusion. In addition to Comcast NBCUniversal, notable BDR member companies include AT &T, Avis Budget Group, Bank of America, Dell, Ford, Honda, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Toyota and Verizon Communications.

"We commend Comcast NBCUniversal for joining the Billion Dollar Roundtable. Under the leadership of David Cohen, Comcast has demonstrated a sincere commitment to diversity and inclusion -- most importantly among their suppliers, through which they've created jobs, spurred economic development, and benefited communities across America," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "As a member of Comcast's Diversity Advisory Council, I have witnessed the company's keen appreciation for the role  that small and diverse businesses play as the economic engines of our American economy. Comcast understands that the principled approach is also the profitable one. That vision resonates deeply with our association and is another reason why our partnership with Comcast is among the USHCC's strongest", Palomarez added.

"We are beyond thrilled to become part of the Billion Dollar Roundtable," said Peter Kiriacoulacos, Chief Procurement Officer of Comcast NBCUniversal. "Diversity in our supply chain is integral to the continued success of our Comcast NBCUniversal family of companies. We spent more than $5 billion with diverse vendors between 2011 and 2014, and our commitment to diverse vendors will be further strengthened by our membership in the Billion Dollar Roundtable."
