Mikrobitti is making a comeback

Talentum is bringing the legendary Mikrobitti magazine back onto the Finnish market. A classic in its field, the magazine has been published since 1984, but its name changed to MB in 2012. Mikrobitti will be the product of a merger of the MB and MPC magazines, which are published by Talentum.

"This summer we carried out a survey, which showed that our readers want a magazine that focuses on computers, hardware and services, covering these topics in depth. By combining the magazines, we will be able to create exactly the content that our readers have asked for," says Mikko Torikka, Editor-in-Chief of Talentum's ICT magazines.

"As a boy, I was a passionate Mikrobitti reader and it feels great to be able to bring Bitti back to Finland. While I was browsing through the magazine's archives, I realised that I still remember articles that I read years ago. Naturally, we will strive to create a reading experience that is every bit as good," says Torikka.

The visual design of the revamped Mikrobitti magazine was created by graphic artist Teemu Lehtosalo, who also grew up with Mikrobitti and was part of the Amiga scene at the beginning of the 1990s. The design takes account of all of the requirements of a technical magazine. Long-term readers will find familiar elements from Mikrobitti's history in the design.

"The subject areas and target groups of the MPC and MB magazines are similar to each other, so it is natural for us to combine our forces. It is important to us that readers feel that Mikrobitti belongs to them and that is why we are listening to readers very carefully," says Tuomas Hämäläinen, Director, Magazine Business Finland.

The first new edition of Mikrobitti will be published on 24 September. MB magazine has 187,000 readers, while MPC has 111,000 readers.

The email and home page services, which are popular benefits provided to subscribers of Mikrobitti, will remain available and will be revamped towards the end of the year to introduce new improvements.
