Dot Hill AssuredSAN Hybrid Storage Arrays Receive ENERGY STAR Certification

Storage Leader Recognized for Energy Efficiency That Delivers Additional Cost Savings With Less Environmental Impact

LONGMONT, Colo., Aug. 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq:HILL), the real-time hybrid storage company, today reports its AssuredSAN® 3004 and 4004 hybrid storage arrays have been ENERGY STAR certified for proven energy efficiency. By maintaining high performance with reduced energy and cooling requirements, the systems provide cost savings with less environmental impact. Coupled with Dot Hill's RealStor™ next-generation, real-time storage operating system – which uses intelligent autonomic tiering software to configure fast solid state drives (SSDs) and low-cost high-density drives (HDDs) – the AssuredSANs continue to set a price/performance benchmark.

"ENERGY STAR certification is part of our ongoing commitment to environmental protection and delivering greater cost savings to enterprises," said Dot Hill's Senior Vice President of Product and Solutions, Bill Wuertz. "Every watt-hour of energy saved results in almost two saved at the facility level through lower waste and reduced cooling. We estimate that last year alone, the AssuredSANs purchased by customers resulted in more than $2 million in aggregate savings."

"The reliability, performance and pricing of Dot Hill's hybrid storage arrays offer unique value to our OEM customers," said Garrett Wein, Vice President of OEM sales, Dot Hill Systems. "The ENERGY STAR certification is just the latest in a long history of examples of how Dot Hill continues to find ways to deliver additional savings."

According to recent research from industry analyst firm ESG, storage IT decision makers want solutions that allow them to manage storage growth, making high capacity a top consideration. "Dot Hill AssuredSAN hybrid solutions with high-capacity HDDs and SSDs can deliver on both fronts, helping organizations to meet the challenges associated with the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) and third platform computing applications, yet in a more environmentally responsible way."
