The new employees, who are thoroughly vetted and have additional certifications such as CPR training, are providing childcare to families across Charleston, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island. NannyPod expects to add an additional 30 employees in Q3 2015 to meet the surging demand for its services. NannyPod’s goal is to have 100 employees by the end of 2015, with expansion into the Charlotte, NC market slated for January 2016.

“NannyPod’s creation and expansion throughout the Charleston area was driven by families who were finding it difficult to get a babysitter and cover their needs 100% of the time. Parents talked and we listened,” stated Katie Tumbleston, CEO and Founder. “Families were consistently lamenting that their sitter cancelled and left them in the dark, or was just unavailable. NannyPod is pleased to serve the Charleston community and solve those problems. We are very encouraged by the welcome and interest in our app from parents and local partners like PeopleMatter,” says Tumbleston, a 10 year veteran of nannying who also holds a Masters in Public Administration.

The NannyPod app is a user-friendly solution to viewing available sitters in real time, checking out their profile, and then requesting them on your smartphone.  …. ((more here about it)).

“We are thrilled to be partnered with NannyPod, a company that is revolutionizing the world of on-demand childcare. They go the extra mile in vetting their employees, and PeopleMatter is proud to help streamline their background screening processes. We’re excited to serve the NannyPod team by providing the workforce management tools to meet their growing hiring, training and scheduling needs,” said Nate DaPore, CEO of local software firm, PeopleMatter.

“I am excited to be a part of NannyPod, because they have improved the way the babysitting industry works - both for families and sitters,” stated Jordan Trgovac, one of NannyPod’s leading employees. “Parents get a confirmation via text message when requesting sitters on the app, and can see availability of others just in case. Families even get free sitter hours for referring their friends - it’s a win-win situation. I set my own availability, get more work and families know they always have a sitter.”

A couple spending time in Charleston were referred to NannyPod by some close friends on Sullivan’s Island. “We purchased a 5 hour package to check out how it worked. Everything was completed electronically and the app made life easy to see available sitters and request them," said Richard Wright who has two young children with his wife Elizabeth. "We will certainly use NannyPod in the future. Brooke was great and NannyPod's sitter service saved the day.”

“Parents who use NannyPod frequently can claim up to $6000 in childcare costs for tax credits in 2015. Or, they can use up to $5000 in funds from their employer provided dependent care FSA (Flexible Spending Account),” stated Kevin N. Hedges, a Financial Advisor in Charleston, SC. “Parents who pay under the table for a sitter cannot take advantage of these benefits. Receiving the childcare tax credit or using your FSA lowers the price per hour by around 20%. It’s a big discount if you have two children, spend $6000 on childcare throughout the year and receive the $1200 tax credit.” NannyPod makes getting the childcare tax credit and discount easy by sending families the IRS forms every January. “What I also really like is that the pricing is fixed, so parents always know their costs.”
