Haivision Media Gateway Availability in AWS Marketplace Brings a Low-Latency, Bandwidth-Saving Cloud Solution for Live Video Transport

Haivision's flexible and cost-effective cloud video solution delivers high quality video for broadcast distribution and enterprise live events

MONTREAL, Sept. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Haivision, a market leader in video streaming and media management solutions, announces that the Haivision Media Gateway is now available for cloud deployment in Amazon Web Services (AWS Marketplace), giving broadcasters and enterprises a low-latency and bandwidth-saving solution for connecting multiple facilities with secure HD video over public Internet connections.

Haivision will be exhibiting the cloud-based Haivision Media Gateway at IBC 2015 from September 11-15 in Amsterdam, hall 14, stand N26. In addition, Haivision will demonstrate its latest video streaming solutions in the cloud at the AWS booth 14.N29 and speak at the AWS IBC Theater on Saturday, September 12, at 2:30 pm.

In AWS Marketplace, Haivision Media Gateway is available as an hourly pay-as-you-go service or bring-your-own-license product. Customers can deploy the solution as a preconfigured Amazon Machine Image (AMI) in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) with just a few mouse clicks. Access to the Haivision Media Gateway in AWS Marketplace gives customers the ability to easily build scalable streaming workflows that use low cost Internet connections to distribute high quality, extreme low latency video to multiple locations. The cloud-based Haivision Media Gateway delivers an alternative to the long lead times, prohibitive costs, and scheduling challenges that accompany the use of satellite and custom networks for video distribution. By replicating streams in the cloud, the Haivision Media Gateway eliminates the need for excessive uplink bandwidth to serve multiple locations. Using Haivision's unique video transport technology, SRT, customers can transport high-performance HD video over low cost Internet connections instead of expensive dedicated custom networks or satellite. The Haivision Media Gateway with SRT also features different options to easily manage firewall traversal, helping organizations easily transport video across different networks.

Haivision Media Gateway in the cloud helps customers with:

  • Broadcast backhaul and distribution: Organizations can use the Haivision Media Gateway as a video network bridge to transport video between studio environments. This brings broadcasters an easier way to backhaul video to a centralized production venue before being distributed to remote affiliates.
  • Enterprise video distribution: With Haivision Media Gateway, organizations can now easily distribute live events from remote sites like hotels and satellite offices by sending a single stream to the cloud before being distributed to multiple facilities at low latency.

"As the demand for content continues to grow, broadcasters are looking towards added flexibility and lower cost," said Peter Maag, chief marketing officer, Haivision. "Making our cloud-based video streaming solutions available in AWS Marketplace helps broadcasters easily scale their live video infrastructures."

"We are pleased that customers now have access to purchase and deploy Haivision Media Gateway from AWS Marketplace," said Dave McCann, AWS Marketplace, Amazon Web Services, Inc. "With Haivision Media Gateway in AWS Marketplace, our broadcast and enterprise customers can easily distribute live and HD content while paying only for what they use at a fraction of the cost."
