Exide Technologies Appoints New Executives


MILTON, Ga., Sept. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Exide Technologies (www.exide.com), a global leader in stored energy applications for transportation and industrial markets, today announced the appointment of key new members of its leadership team-Anthony (Tony) Genito, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; Leslie W. Joyce, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, and Vice President Human Resources-Americas; and Ted Becker, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing–Americas. All three have assumed their roles at the Atlanta-based global battery manufacturer as of this month.

Tony Genito, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Exide Technologies, most recently the Chief Financial Officer at Spectrum Brands Holding Inc., a NYSE listed company, will lead Exide's global Finance and Internal Audit functions. Mr. Genito brings more than 36 years of international financial and executive leadership experience to Exide. Prior to joining the Company, he held roles of increasing responsibility in Spectrum's financial organization and held various financial management positions at Schering-Plough Corporation. He began his career with the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Genito holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Mercy College and a Master of Business Administration from Pace University.

Leslie W. Joyce, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, and Vice President Human Resources-Americas of Exide Technologies, will oversee Human Resources activities across Exide's worldwide operations, including talent management, leadership and organizational development, compensation and benefits and labor and employee relations. Dr. Joyce brings more than 30 years of diverse Human Resources experience to her role at Exide. Prior to joining the Company, she served at Novelis Inc., most recently as the Senior Vice President, Chief People Officer. Before her tenure at Novelis, Dr. Joyce was Vice President and Chief Learning Officer for The Home Depot. Earlier in her career, she also held positions of increasing responsibility with GlaxoSmithKline, and served in senior Human Resources roles in both public and private sector companies. Dr. Joyce holds a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from North Carolina State University and also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Ted Becker, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing-Exide Americas, will be responsible for all of Exide Americas' divisional sales and marketing teams and functions, including original-equipment (OE) and aftermarket customer segments, as well as related strategic and product planning activities. Mr. Becker joins Exide from Michelin Groupe, a global retailer of tires for all types of vehicles and other applications, where he most recently held the position of Director of Channel, Passenger Car and Light Truck Tire Business Unit. Prior to that role, Mr. Becker was Vice President of Marketing for the Michelin Commercial Tire Business Unit where he led strategic and operational marketing functions for both Aftermarket and OE customers, and had oversight of fleet sales and distribution partners. He also served in increasing roles of responsibility in a number of sales, marketing and management roles at Michelin. Mr. Becker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Clemson University.
