Global Eagle Signs New Agreements to Provide Cockpit Integration and Electronic Flight Bag Solutions to Commercial Airlines Worldwide

Wizz Air, Hong Kong Airlines, and EasyFly Tap navAero Tablet Solutions to Help Enable and Accelerate Adoption of Connected EFB Capabilities

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global Eagle Entertainment Inc., (Nasdaq:ENT) ("GEE") a worldwide provider of aircraft connectivity systems, operations solutions and media content to the travel industry, today announced new deals with commercial airlines worldwide that puts mission-critical flight data at the fingertips of pilots and operations teams.

Three airlines from Europe, Asia and South America signed strategic agreements for GEE's electronic flight bag (EFB) solutions and certifications, providing a seamless migration path to connected aircraft benefits and efficiencies. A growing number of airlines are replacing their traditional pilot flight bags carrying cumbersome paper-based flight documents with GEE's navAero tablet-based electronic flight bag solutions, boosting operational productivity and improving the overall passenger experience. GEE's proprietary navAero EFB equipment is now installed on more than 3,500 aircraft worldwide.

Wizz Air, the largest ultra low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, offering over 380 routes and 112 destinations across 38 countries in Europe and beyond, will begin installations of the navAero EFB tablet mounts on its A320 fleet later this year. David Morgan, Chief Pilot at Wizz Air said: "We are delighted to be partnering with GEE/navAero for our EFB mounting system. After extensive research and a competitive tender it was clear that navAero could deliver the product that we needed, and at the right price. We look forward to enjoying the benefits of this device on our growing fleet of A320 and A321 aircraft for many years to come."

Hong Kong Airlines, with flights across its A320 and A330 fleets to nearly 30 cities throughout Asia, will utilize navAero's tablet mount hardware and EFB platform, including the new Apple iPad family holder for simultaneous iPad integration without STC changes. The system is fully capable of delivering real-time connectivity of aircraft data with the addition of navAero's Universal Aircraft Interface Device (UAID).

South American airline EasyFly, with domestic service across Colombia, has inked a deal for EFB tablet mount hardware and certifications for deployment on the carrier's fleet of ATR-42 aircraft. "GEE's navAero EFB solutions offer the most effective tablet mounts, certification times, and connectivity interfaces in the industry," noted Julio Delahoz, maintenance director for EasyFly Airlines. "We are confident we have the right EFB platform in navAero that is able to evolve with our requirements for an increasingly connected aircraft in the future."

"Wizz Air, Hong Kong Airlines, and Easy Fly are the latest airlines to tap the power of our navAero electronic flight bag solutions that put vital flight-related data, such as flight path and weather conditions, at the fingertips of pilots and operations managers," said Simone Giordano, President of navAero, a GEE Operations Solutions business. "Once integrated with GEE's inflight connectivity platform, the navAero EFB becomes a portal for real-time data that enables pilots and airlines to make informed decisions that lead to safer, more streamlined operations and a more enjoyable passenger experience."
