BOSTON, Sept. 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Building on its mobile momentum, join.me, LogMeIn, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:LOGM) popular online meeting app, today rolled out an update that delivers its best features to iOS and brings the visual collaboration of the whiteboard – physical or virtual – to meeting attendees regardless of location. The iOS 9 join.me update not only lets users start meetings and present right from iOS devices, but extends join.me's mobile whiteboard, already available on iPad, to the iPhone, with plans to support the iPad Pro upon its release later this year.
To enable better collaboration during online meetings, the update also introduces a key new feature that gives iPhone and iPad owners the ability use their mobile camera to instantly capture and bring physical whiteboards, photos or other images into the online experience. As a result, iOS users can create digital whiteboards directly on their device or can snap photos of physical whiteboards to instantly share and annotate with teammates, partners or customers through join.me.
join.me's new mobile features are available for free, with additional, optional upgrades available through in-app and online purchases. All of the iPhone and iPad capabilities are available for existing join.me iOS app users via an update, or for new users via a download from the App Store.
Whiteboarding is a proven tool for brainstorming, strategy development, team organization and project management, but a new study highlights its limitations in a mobile world. Not surprisingly, 70 percent of knowledge workers have a picture of a whiteboard on their phone, and 30 percent admit to having 10 or more pictures of whiteboards on their phone. The iOS 9 join.me app update gives users a better way to create, capture and share whiteboards during meetings, as well as update them over time.

The join.me mobile whiteboard has been available since earlier this year on the iPad, and with the iOS 9 update, the whiteboard is also now fully functional on the iPhone with plans to support the iPad Pro later this year. More than just a simple a sketch tool, join.me's mobile whiteboard offers great drawing capabilities combined with a library of icons, as well as lines and shapes on an infinite canvas for brainstorming, collaboration and note taking. A Survey of 1000 office or home office knowledge workers shows that 84 percent of office workers have 'saved' a whiteboard, asking coworkers not to erase and nearly 80 percent have kept info on a whiteboard for over a week.
Some other interesting stats include:
- 34 percent of respondents have kept a whiteboard for over a month
- And 6 percent have kept it over a year!
- Over 70 percent have taken a photo of a whiteboard on their mobile device
- Nearly 30 percent have 10 or more images of a whiteboard saved on a phone or tablet
- 13 percent have over 20 images
- More than half have erased someone else's whiteboard without knowing they needed it
- Over 85 percent have been in a meeting space without a whiteboard and wished there was one to share key thoughts
- Over 60 percent have missed out on crucial information in a meeting because other participants on the call were working on a whiteboard

This study was conducted by Lab42 in August 2015, among 1,000 office/home office workers between the ages of 22 and 65, in the United States and Canada. All respondents had used whiteboards in meetings in the past year.
