(“Volkswagen”) alleging that Volkswagen manufactured and installed defeat devices in certain model year 2009 through 2015 diesel light-duty vehicles equipped with 2.0 liter engines. These defeat devices allegedly bypass, defeat or render inoperative elements of the vehicles’ emission control system that exist to comply with emission standards of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 7401-7671q) and its implementing regulations. As a result, the complaint alleges that Volkswagen engaged in deceptive practices, fraud and made deceptive representations when it offered for sale and sold those vehicles to the public. The complaint was filed by another firm in the Central District of California – Case No. 5:15-CV-01930.
