Central Animal Hospital Veterinarian Honored at Greenburgh Nature Center Gala

SCARSDALE, N.Y., Sept. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Central Animal Hospital announces that veterinarian Dr. Michael Woltz will be honored at the 40th Anniversary Greenburgh Nature Center Gala on September 28th. As a veterinarian for 37 years and the owner of Central Animal Hospital, Dr. Woltz is being recognized for his commitment to caring for animals in need. This includes his work with animals at Greenburgh Nature Center. Dr. Woltz provides care for animals from Greenburgh Nature Center free of charge, including turkeys, goats, turtles, owls and other wildlife.

"It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by the Greenburgh Nature Center at their annual gala," said Dr. Woltz. "I accept this recognition on behalf of my entire veterinary team, which has worked hard over the years to provide care for local wildlife free of charge. We believe all animals deserve the very best treatment."

Dr. Woltz's veterinary work does not just begin and end with seeing patients in the office, says Patti DiMarino. DiMarino, the Office Manager for Central Animal Hospital since 1993, says Woltz's passion for veterinary care is evident in his commitment to treating all types of animals.

"Dr. Woltz always welcomes and treats any pet whether it be tiny and furry, or feathery and large," said DiMarino. "The animals from Greenburgh Nature Center are no exception. Here, they are examined, diagnosed and treated at no cost. On behalf of the entire staff, we love when these animals come through the door."

Dr. Woltz has treated more than 20,000 pets over the years. His passion for veterinary care also led him to treat the search and rescue dogs that had been injured at Ground Zero following the tragedy of September 11.

In Scarsdale, Dr. Woltz continues to give back to the local community by treating police, fire, and search and rescue dogs. The veterinarian also works with the local animal shelters, participating in dog walks, raising money and awareness of animals in need, and treating the abandoned pets at little or no cost. Dr. Woltz currently serves as the treasurer and continuing education Chair for the Westchester/Rockland Veterinary Medical Association. For over a decade Dr. Woltz also served as a member of the board of directors for the Greenburgh Nature Center.
