White Oaks Veterinary Clinic Stresses Importance of Continuing Education for Veterinarians

EDMOND, Okla., Sept. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Continuing education is more than a buzzword for the owners and staff of White Oaks Veterinary Clinic in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Doctors and technicians here are required to obtain 25 hours of education and training per year. It is not uncommon, though, for these veterinarians and their technicians to receive more. In January, Dr. Mark Bianchi and Dr. Jennifer Bianchi attended the North American Veterinarian Conference in Orlando, Florida, where they received 45 hours each acquiring high quality educations. Dr. Jason Smart attended the Western State Veterinary Conference, an educational conference of substantial renown, in February. Clinic technicians are scheduled to attend an important conference in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in September.

White Oaks Veterinary Clinic in Edmond, Oklahoma, believe that it is essential for veterinarians and technicians to receive continuing education and technological training in the field of veterinary medicine. The Oklahoma State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners requires practitioners to obtain 25 hours of yearly training, but Dr. Jennifer Bianchi of White Oaks Veterinary Clinic supports that their doctors and clinic techs try to receive more. She states that, "The science of veterinary medicine is evolving rapidly and we believe in making continuing education a priority for our staff, so we can continue to offer our patients the best standard of care."

Three of the clinic's technicians are attending an upcoming four-day symposium in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The symposium is a national-level meeting that spans four days of intensive lectures and labs. There, Naomi Felde, Ashley Miller, and Megan MacAnally, the three White Oaks Veterinary Clinic technicians who will be attending the symposium, will attend lectures covering medicine, surgery and nursing care for animals.

Dr. Bianchi goes on to say, "Our goal at White Oaks Veterinary Clinic is to promote better pet health through an active education system of the doctors, staff and owners."

Dr. Jennifer Bianchi and her husband, clinic co-owner, Dr. Mark Bianchi, started the year off with a January trip to the North American Veterinary Conference, which took place in Orlando. There they receive 45 hours of quality education. Dr. Sharla Bohi attended the International Veterinary Symposium in March that included days of lectures involving cutting edge medicine and surgery for small animals. Dr. Jason Smart also attended the Western States Veterinary Conference in February and participated in hands on labs involving dogs and exotic animals.

Dr. Bianchi is excited about the new knowledge gleaned from these conferences and believes they help everyone at White Oaks Veterinary Clinic stay sharp, keep skills current, and learn about new surgical procedures, upcoming therapeutic trials and new medicines to better treat local area pets.
