King & Spalding Recruits Thomas Jones as Finance Partner in London

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - October 12, 2015) - King & Spalding announced today that Thomas Jones will join the London office as a partner in the firm's financial institutions and finance practices. He will join from Allen & Overy, where he has been a partner for 15 years.

Jones is a specialist in structured finance and derivatives matters. He represents banks and financial institutions on a range of structured products, including commodities, equities, credit and foreign exchange. He has significant experience in monetisation transactions and complex transactions involving commodities as well as funding, hedging and acquisition finance.

Jones has been a partner at Allen & Overy since 2000, including spending five years in the firm's Hong Kong office between 2003 and 2008. He has acted for most major investment banks and other financial institutions.

"London is one of the key global markets for cross-border structured finance work and Tom, with his additional experience in Asia, is a valuable addition in assisting our clients on their international matters," said William H. Fuller, chair of the firm's Financial Institutions practice. "Tom brings further strength to our global offering."

Jones is the seventh partner to join King & Spalding's London office in the past year, following Elisabeth Baltay (finance and restructuring from Bingham McCutchen), Tom O'Neill (capital markets form Linklaters), Markus Bauman (capital markets from Latham & Watkins), Stuart Isaacs QC (international disputes from Berwin Leighton Paisner), Daniel Friel (tax from Latham & Watkins) and Nick Cherryman (international disputes from Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson). The London office now has 22 partners.

"We welcome Tom to the London office as our latest senior hire. We continue to expand the strength and depth of our services," said Garry Pegg, office managing partner of the London office. "His international structured finance and derivatives background is a fantastic addition to our growing corporate, capital markets and tax practices."

"This is a great opportunity to be part of King & Spalding's international drive in further developing its financial institutions practice," Jones added.
