Cubic Delivers Simulation Training to Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2015 Exercise

Cubic Global Defense provides realism to annual combined training exercise for Republic of Korea and U.S. military forces

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Oct. 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Cubic Global Defense (CGD), a business unit of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), today announced its successful completion in the recent Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) joint exercise through its Korea Battle Simulation Center (KBSC). Cubic holds the KBSC operations contract and supported the annual strategic UFG joint exercise, spanning the entirety of the Pacific, combining military forces from the U.S. and the Republic of Korea (ROK).

As the largest, distributed, simulation-driven exercise in the world, UFG is one of the few places where combined forces are tested and showcased. UFG is designed to train the Combined Forces Command, direct staff and other personnel on the planning and execution required to defend ROK in a possible attack from the north.

"UFG is a unique simulation model because both the U.S. and ROK are seamlessly woven into one federation to provide realism to the training audience, including the leaders," said Bill Toti, president of Cubic Global Defense. "With the addition of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Tactical Warfare Simulation to the KBSC's architecture this year, the U.S. Marine Corps used their model for the first time in a theater-level exercise to simulate amphibious and ground functions."

The simulations in the UFG exercise replicated real-world training scenarios in the high-intensity conflict of the Korean region with ground, air, sea, missile and special operations fighting on both sides of the battlefield from multiple locations and more than 1000 workstations. With some 20 complex simulations, the KBSC sustained the training effort of the successful exercise by providing overall simulation model availability of more than 99 percent operability and local area network availability of 100 percent operability.

The KBSC provides computer-assisted training exercises in the ROK, Japan and other locations around the world. This includes battle simulation training; live and virtual gaming capabilities; planning and coordination; and facilitation of the four Services, joint and combined exercises - particularly in conjunction with the Pacific Theater region.
