Ebix’s Ask a Doctor Telemedicine Service Goes Live Across 33,000 Kiosks in the State of Rajasthan, India

Service Provided as a Part of the Ambitious eMitra Initiative of the Government of Rajasthan

This deployment is part of the Govt. of Rajasthan’s ambitious eMitra initiative, an e-governance service implemented in all 33 districts of Rajasthan.

The State Government’s eMitra service targets the 73.5 million people of Rajasthan, in terms of improving their lives by educating them as also allowing them to avail on all the benefits being offered to the citizens by the Government, through franchisee run kiosks spread across the length and breadth of the state. eMitra kiosks and counters make it possible for people residing in all corners of Rajasthan to avail various services and get their work done without running around in government offices.

RISL, on behalf of Govt. of Rajasthan and Ebix has jointly signed an agreement for the launch of “Ask a Doctor” service through eMitra platform wherein any resident can seek advice from a doctor about his or her health issues. eMitra has a wide spread IT enabled unified network of 33,000 kiosks, out of which 22,000 kiosks are operational in rural areas up to the Gram Panchayats.  The service is especially aimed at benefiting the rural citizens who can walk-in into any eMitra kiosk and can get answers to their questions from doctors/ medical specialists from all over the world by making a nominal payment. The medical advisory services by Ebix are provided through its online network of approximately 15,000 Physicians and Surgeons spread across 50 specialties including alternative medicine.

Ebix’s specially created telemedicine service in Rajasthan, will provide expert advice on most of the common health needs of the citizens on 24x7 basis in the most often spoken language of Hindi in the state. Through the “Ask a Doctor” service, a citizen can get answers online on email or on their mobile phones within a day’s time. “Ask A Doctor” service allows a consumer to write a health query, attach a picture or upload a lab report and post to doctors across the world in just a few clicks. The service was deployed after an extensive round of on-site testing by both parties.
