Eckert & Ziegler awards prizes to young nuclear medicine researchers

Berlin, 13 October 2015. This year's Eckert & Ziegler Abstract Award went
to five nuclear medicine specialists from Germany, the Netherlands, the
United Kingdom and USA at the congress of the European Association of
Nuclear Medicine (EANM) in Hamburg. The prizes were awarded for research
work in the fields of oncological and neurological diagnostics.

The competition, which is run by Eckert & Ziegler AG in cooperation with
the EANM and awards prizes of EUR1,000 each, was held for the eighth time.
A jury of seven EANM members chose the following five laureates from a
total of 617 entries:

Erik Aarntzen, Netherlands: Tc-99m-CXCL8 SPECT to image disease activity in
inflammatory bowel disease

Ana Denis-Bacelar, United Kingdom: Metastatic control probability in
patients with prostate cancer metastatic to bone treated 186Re-HEDP

Matthias Eder, Germany: A phage display derived stabilised bicyclic peptide
targeting MMP-14 shows high imaging contrast in small animal PET imaging

Elsmarieke van de Giessen, Netherlands: Blunted striatal dopamine release
in cannabis dependence

Reinier Hernandez, USA: Synergistically Enhanced Tumor Uptake via
Dual-Targeting of CD105 and EGFR Using a "Click" Heterodimer

"With its Travel Award, Eckert & Ziegler assists young scientists in making
their research results in the field of medical imaging available to a broad
public," explained Dr. André Heß, Member of the Executive Board of Eckert &
Ziegler AG and Head of the Radiopharma Segment.
