VA Seeks Lab Testing Facilities in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwired - October 15, 2015) - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on October 15 issued a request for information/sources sought notice to identify laboratory testing facilities in or around Pittsburgh, PA that can provide coagulation lab testing services for the VA Pittsburgh Health Care System.

The lab testing facility must provide reference testing services for coagulation testing, such as heparin induced platelet antibody, heparin PF4 platelet antibody, platelet aggregation panel with multiple agonists, and heparin induced platelet antibody and heparin PF4 platelet antibody panel. The facility also must be able to report results to the VA Pittsburgh HCS's Pathology and Lab Department within 24 hours of specimen shipment and provide interpretation when clinically indicted.

The VA will only consider lab testing facilities that have CLIA and other required licenses and certifications for operating the lab testing facility and CAP accreditation, and that can provide its own courier service.

Lab testing facilities interested in this procurement opportunity and that have the resources and capabilities needed to provide the coagulation lab testing services should respond with the following information:

  • Facility's name, business type, socio-economic status (e.g., Veteran-Owned, Woman-Owned, Disadvantaged Small Business, 8(a), etc.), and person of contact (including telephone number and email address)
  • Geographical location
  • Credentials (e.g., certifications, accreditations, etc.)
  • Description of capabilities (e.g., lab hours, after hours services, testing types, courier services, etc.).
