Capricor is testing an investigational cardiac cell therapy to determine if reducing the amount of scar tissue in the heart can lead to better outcomes in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The HOPE-Duchenne trial will evaluate if an investigational cardiac cell therapy is safe and potentially effective in treating boys and young men with Duchenne. The HOPE-Duchenne trial will study the amount of scar tissue in the heart muscle before and after treatment with either the investigational cardiac cell therapy or usual care. The HOPE-Duchenne trial will evaluate CAP-1002 for the first time in patients with Duchenne with significant cardiac dysfunction. CAP-1002 is Capricor's allogeneic, cardiosphere-derived cell (CDC) therapy already in clinical development for the treatment of heart disease.
