Black & Veatch Calls Upon Orth to Apply Broader Experience Across Water Industry

Executive Will Propel Company’s Asset Management, Design-Build and Alternative Water Supply Offerings


OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov. 04, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Black & Veatch today announced that Mike Orth has been named Executive Vice President. Orth is based in Kansas City and leads the company’s Americas Water business. He is charged with leading the growth focus on asset management, design-build, program management and alternative water supply solutions. He remains Managing Director for the Americas Water business.

Orth joined Black & Veatch in 1989. Under his leadership the company has developed a range of projects that solved key water challenges in the central United States. He most recently oversaw the team that led the design and implementation of the Thornton Composite Reservoir. This large scale, Chicago-area basin project will bring stormwater relief to the city’s south side.

Black & Veatch has also improved water system resilience and developed key alternative water supply projects in North America. These include the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center in Northern California and the Initial Expansion of the Groundwater Replenishment System in Southern California.

Orth is a member of the American Water Works Association. He is currently a Director, and serving on AWWA’s Board. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation, and has been an active volunteer in the Kansas City area, including with the United Way of Kansas City.
