Support for heart patients now more accessible with new Mended Hearts HeartGuide and Heartbeat Now Magazine Apps

DALLAS, Nov. 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mended Hearts, Inc. (MHI) is pleased to announce the launch of two new apps that give heart patients instantaneous access to the support and education they need through their phones and handheld devices. The Mended Hearts HeartGuide app is a one-of-a-kind patient resource guide that helps patients navigate life after a heart event, while the Heartbeat Now magazine app brings the stories, videos and volunteer information patients want, in an easy-to-read format.

With one in four people in the United States suffering from heart disease, and over three quarters of a million people experiencing a heart attack, patients and families need support more than ever. "The Mended Hearts HeartGuide app is a new, exciting resource that will help patients through their heart recovery journeys," said Michele Packard-Milam, CAE, executive director of Mended Hearts. The app contains descriptions of common heart conditions, procedures, and tests, as well as cardiac rehab reminders, exercise tips, healthy lifestyle habits, and the social and learning benefits of connecting with fellow heart patients and families.

The Heartbeat Now magazine app contains important articles and features on new medications and treatment options, patient stories and heart-related events from across the country. "With these innovative products, patients can now have access to the information they need to help make informed decisions, anywhere, anytime, commented Ms. Packard-Milam. "These two apps really bring our decades of learning and support into the 21st century and put wonderful assets right at patients' fingertips." Readers will also be able to watch patient support videos, read about current events and connect with volunteer opportunities.
Both apps are now available on the Apple App store and the Android Market.
