The investigation comes on the heels of claims made by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”), on September 18, 2015, that Volkswagen had installed a “defeat device” in certain diesel models.  In the latest chapter of Volkswagen’s deception, the company said in a statement on November 3, 2015, that an internal investigation revealed “unexplained inconsistencies” in the emissions of carbon dioxide for certain vehicles.  The vehicles subject to the EPA and the internal investigation include:

•           2010-2015 Audi A3;

•           2012-2015 VW Beetle and Beetle Convertible;

•           2012-2015 VW Passat;

•           2014 Touareg;

•           2015 VW Golf SportWagen TDI;

•           2015 Porsche Cayenne;

•           2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L, and Q5.
