Sponda’s Energy efficiency programme among the best in the Nordic region

The property investment company Sponda achieved the Nordic Climate Disclosure Leadership level for the first time in the annual CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) assessment. Sponda received recognition for its comprehensive climate reporting as well as its Energy efficiency programme, which includes the management of carbon dioxide emissions.

Sponda was awarded a score of 99/100 for its reporting and the grade of A- (classification: A–E) in the emissions management index. Sponda improved its result from the previous year in both categories and was ranked first in the Financials category in both Finland and the Nordic region as a whole.

The assessment is based on a global survey that this year received responses from approximately 5,500 companies. A total of 35 companies in Finland responded to this year’s survey. This was the fourth time Sponda has participated in the CDP assessment.

The CDP assessment measures companies’ greenhouse gas emissions, emissions targets, measures to reduce emissions, business risks and opportunities related to climate change, and reporting on these matters. The assessment of an independent non-profit organisation provides a global and highly respected scoring framework for measuring and reporting on the environmental information put out by businesses.

Investors increasingly use data from CDP reports to assess the responsibility of companies and support their investment decisions. CDP represents 822 institutional investors that manage over EUR 86,000 billion in assets globally.

“I am pleased that our Energy efficiency programme has been so prominently recognised. Improving the energy efficiency of our properties and reducing their carbon footprint requires continuous co-operation with our customers and other stakeholders. I would like to thank all of our partners for their contribution to the result we have achieved together,” says Hanna Duraku, Sustainability Manager at Sponda.

The property sector plays a key role in mitigating climate change and improving energy efficiency. Sponda supports the fight against climate change in its own operations by improving the energy efficiency of its properties and reducing their environmental impact.
