Trinity Ventures Raises $400 Million for Fund XII

Firm Behind Docker, New Relic and Zulily Seeks New Technology Startups for Its Latest Round of Funding

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwired - November 05, 2015) - Trinity Ventures, an early-stage, technology-focused investment firm, announced today it has raised $400 million for its Fund XII.

Trinity's core investments center around four sectors: SaaS, IT infrastructure companies, mobile e-commerce and services, and digital media. This new fund adds to Trinity's active funds, with assets under management, now totaling over $2 billion. The firm's most recent company IPOs include New Relic, Zulily, Infoblox, TubeMogul, and MaxPoint. Additionally, its exclusive seed program helped produce Docker, one of today's most successful infrastructure companies.

"We're looking forward to discovering our next group of talented entrepreneurs," General Partner Ajay Chopra said. "Some of the amazing people we funded have fundamentally changed the way entire sectors operate. We want to work closely with a new generation of exceptional founders and help them influence the future."

For 29 years, Trinity has been regarded as one of the most people-focused firms among leading VCs. This mission is carried out through the way Trinity supports its entrepreneurs holistically -- both inside and outside of their ventures -- and through its Entrepreneur-in-Residence program. Participants of the EIR program actually work alongside the partners, sharing insight as well as office space.

"We've changed a lot over the years. We evolved our investment style as the pace of innovation has accelerated and expanded our team," Chopra said. "The one thing that has stayed the same is how we build meaningful relationships with our entrepreneurs while delivering outsized returns to our investors. I don't ever want us to change that approach."
