ASTRAZENECA PRICES A $6 BILLION BOND ISSUE


AstraZeneca PLC announces that yesterday it conducted a global bond market
transaction by issuing a total of $6bn of notes. The proceeds of the issue will
be used to fund the previously announced acquisition of ZS Pharma, Inc., to
repay certain outstanding commercial paper obligations, and for general
corporate purposes. The transaction, which is a global offering registered with
the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), consists of five tranches:

·     $0.4bn of 3-year floating rate notes;

·     $1.0bn of 3-year fixed rate notes with a coupon of 1.750%;

·     $1.6bn of 5-year fixed rate notes with a coupon of 2.375%;

·     $2.0bn of 10-year fixed rate notes with a coupon of 3.375%; and

·     $1.0bn of 30-year fixed rate notes with a coupon of 4.375%.

The notes will be issued under AstraZeneca's existing automatic shelf
registration statement on Form F-3, which AstraZeneca filed with the SEC on 26
November 2013. Such registration statement provides for the offer and sale from
time to time of an indeterminate amount of AstraZeneca's debt securities and
includes a prospectus that investors should read to obtain more complete
information. The offering was made solely by means of a written prospectus
