Windstream Named Finalist for 2015 MEF Excellence Awards

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Nov. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN), a leading provider of advanced network communications, has been selected as a finalist for the 2015 MEF Excellence Awards, an annual program highlighting carrier Ethernet services and applications organized by MEF, a global industry alliance of more than 220 telecommunication organizations. The winners will be announced during an awards dinner on Nov. 17 as part of the GEN15 global networking event in Dallas, Texas. In addition to attending the ceremony, Windstream will feature its broad portfolio of carrier ethernet solutions at Gen15 booth 800 on Nov. 16-19.

For the MEF Excellence Awards competition, Windstream will be compared to finalists in the "Service Provider Awards" category; a category aimed to recognize companies that demonstrate leadership in the development and delivery of global, regional, retail and wholesale services, as well as excellence in carrier Ethernet innovation, marketing and network modernization. This announcement marks the first time Windstream has submitted an entry into, and been recognized by, the MEF Excellence Awards program.

"It's an honor to be recognized as a finalist in the MEF Excellence Awards program, which is highly competitive each year," said Jeff Brown, Director of Product Management and Product Marketing for Windstream Carrier Solutions. "Windstream is focused on being a leader in the carrier Ethernet market in the US. Over the past year Windstream has added over 50 MEF-CECPs, or MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Professionals, to ensure we are designing, developing, and delivering best-in-class carrier Ethernet solutions for our wholesale customers."

In the past year, Windstream Carrier Solutions has introduced its Carrier Portal, designed to provide an enhanced carrier partner experience. The Carrier Portal enables customers to obtain real-time quoting and ordering of Ethernet services. Additionally, Windstream Carrier Solutions provides ASOG (Access Service Ordering Guidelines) 51 compliance, enabling carrier customers to interact with Windstream via ASR e-bonding. In the fourth quarter, Carrier partners will realize increased automation capabilities as order status tracking will be viewable through the Carrier Portal.
