30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Dip on Weak Domestic Economic Data; Current Rate is 3.79%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

SEATTLE, Nov. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.79 percent, down four basis points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage fell Friday, then hovered around 3.80 percent before dipping to the current rate on Tuesday.

"Last week, mortgage rates remained flat until weak U.S. economic data and stronger than expected oil supplies caused a drop at the week's end," said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. "Rates are unlikely to move much higher this week, as markets make sense of the political situation in Europe and look to U.S. inflation and output data, as well as the release of minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee's October meeting and commentary from several Committee voters."

Zillow's real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.

The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 2.95 percent, while the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 3.00 percent.
