Vilnius, Lithuania, 2015-11-19 10:30 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On 19 November 2015, the National Commission for Energy Control and Prices (NCECP) (hereinafter referred to as the “Commission”) set the prices for connecting to the natural gas systems by private clients. Next year, residents wishing to have natural gas connection installed and natural gas supplied to their dwellings or other premises will have to pay 20 % less for every meter of the pipeline laid, i.e. EUR 14.18 instead of EUR 17.65 (including VAT). The price for connecting to gas pipelines whatever the distance will fall by 4 %, i.e. will be EUR 242.96 (including VAT). These rates will apply from 1 January 2016.

The rate for connecting to gas pipelines is calculated to every business or public sector client individually in accordance with the Methodology for Fixing Prices for Connection approved by the Commission.

“Lower prices for gas installation will considerably increase the accessibility of natural gas for consumers. For this reason, we hope that the number of clients will grow, and, as a result this will enable to reduce gas distribution price. To distribute more natural gas, we have to attract more clients, so cutting of gas installation prices is in a way  the reduction of barriers which are faced when connecting to the gas network,” Liudas Liutkevičius, the Chairman of the Board and the CEO of Lietuvos Dujos, said.

Following the reorganisation of the public limited liability company Lietuvos Dujos and the Commission’s issuance of the licence for gas distribution in accordance with the procedure established by law, the prices for connecting to gas pipelines for household consumers in 2016 approved by the Commission will apply to the assignee of the rights and duties of Lietuvos Dujos.
