UTi Earns Secure Trade Partnership Certificate From Singapore Customs

LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UTi Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq:UTIW), a global supply chain services and solutions provider, has earned a coveted Secure Trade Partnership (STP) certificate from Singapore Customs. The certificate is awarded to companies that have adopted robust security measures throughout their trading operations to enhance the security of global supply chains and prevent disruptions to the smooth flow of goods.

Among the benefits of receiving the STP certificate are swift trade facilitations (available through Singapore Customs' TradeFIRST bands), automatic "known consignor" designation under the Regulated Cargo Agent Regime, quicker cargo clearance and fewer inspections where STP status is recognized by other national authorities, such as those in China and the US.

Bill Rice, UTi Global Director, Security, said: "We are always looking to improve on the service we can deliver for our clients. This new accreditation is part of that, reflecting our commitment to keep their supply chains secure and to work towards a safer global supply chain."

Vikram Paul, UTi Regional Vice President, South East Asia, said: "We are proud to be one of just a few supply chain management firms to have received the STP certificate. This is particularly valuable given the strategic importance of Singapore to many of our clients as a gateway to the Asian market."

Launched in 2007, the Secure Trade Partnership is a voluntary certification program administered by Singapore Customs that encourages companies to adopt robust security measures in their trading operations. The STP provides companies with a framework to guide the development, implementation, monitoring and review of their supply chain security measures and practices.
