Starbreeze AB: STARVR supported Nokia's MAKING VIRTUAL REALITY OZO launch event

Starbreeze looking to support the filmmaking community desiring to produce immersive 360° content with its 210-degree VR headset

Starbreeze AB, an independent creator, publisher and distributor of high quality entertainment products, yesterday supported the Nokia OZO launch event MAKING VIRTUAL REALITY taking place L.A. LIVE, Los Angeles, November 30th. The event itself hosted hundreds industry professionals to demonstrate the Nokia OZO virtual reality (VR) camera. The STARVR VR headset, amongst others, gave the event attendees the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a number of OZO filmed experiences, fully taking advantage of the headset 210-degree field of view.

Starbreeze is looking to work closely with the Hollywood filmmaking community supporting content creators in providing a high-resolution headset solution that will provide a 5k high resolution, 210-degree point of view for un-paralleled VR experiences. The headset will provide the high-end tool re-required to properly capture, edit and present the future feature films and documentaries.

" We want VR filmmakers to experience their films at their best, with an immersive large field of view that fill the human vision and allow the user to experience the expressions of human emotions. This is a tool for storyteller and, artists in pursuit of perfection, working on meaningful emotional stories and with the desire to touch their audience." said Emmanuel Marquez CTO of Starbreeze. He continued: "What VR needs are stories where you lose yourself, stories that give you a heightened awareness and the immersion into the virtual reality. That's the reason why we want to support VR film creation and we definitely see the Nokia OZO being an important part of that future."

Nokia's OZO is the first commercially available virtual reality (VR) camera designed and build for professional content creators and the first in a planned portfolio of digital media solutions from Nokia Technologies, the company's advanced technology and licensing business.

OZO captures stereoscopic 3D video through eight (8) synchronized global shutter sensors and spatial audio through eight (8) integrated microphones. Software built for OZO enables real-time 3D viewing, with an innovative playback solution that removes the need to pre-assemble a panoramic image - a time-consuming process with solutions currently in the marketplace.
