VelocityEHS Webinar Series Readies Safety Professionals for OSHA Recordkeeping Deadline

CHICAGO, Dec. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VelocityEHS, a leading cloud environmental, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability software provider, is preparing safety professionals for OSHA’s annual recordkeeping deadline with a series of free webinars. Under the OSHA Recordkeeping Standard, non-exempt employers are required to post a summary of injuries and illnesses from the previous year in a facility location clearly visible to employees and new applicants.

“It is especially critical that safety professionals maintain and submit accurate work-related injury and illness records this year, as several new proposals and updates have put the Recordkeeping Standard top of mind in the industry,” said Glenn Trout, president and CEO of VelocityEHS. “For safety professionals, it can be hard to keep track of what regulation updates have actually passed and are in force, and which ones are pending. Our webinar series addresses these concerns with information about how to prepare the required documents ahead of OSHA’s Recordkeeping deadline.”

Last year, OSHA updated the list of industries exempt from the recordkeeping requirement. The prior exemption list was based on the old Standard industrial Classification (SIC) system. Effective January 1, 2015, the exemption list is now based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). Retained in the switch is the exemption for any employer with ten or fewer employees. Non-exempt companies covered by the standard are required to prepare and maintain records of serious occupational injuries and illnesses, and summarize them using OSHA Form 300A. That information must remain posted in a location visible to employees and new applicants from February 1 through April 30, 2016.

The 60-minute webinar, “What's New with OSHA's Recordkeeping Standard: Are You Ready?”, covers Recordkeeping best practices, recent changes to OSHA’s recordkeeping requirements, and what to expect from OSHA on injury and illness coverage in the near future. Registration is now available for the following dates and times:
