Energy Focus Business Development Director, Rhonda Courtney, Appointed Chair for NAESCO Affiliate Advisory Committee

SOLON, Ohio, Dec. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energy Focus, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFOI), a leader in LED lighting technologies, today announced that Rhonda Courtney, business development director for Energy Focus, has been appointed the National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) Affiliate Advisory Committee Chair.

NAESCO, the country’s foremost leading energy efficiency organization, serves as the voice of the energy services companies (ESCO) industry, supporting the efforts of its members through national and regional advocacy efforts. The association has been a key catalyst in creating, among federal and state lawmakers, regulators and energy program managers, a continuing commitment to developing and implementing energy efficient solutions for over 30 years. The newly formed Affiliate Advisory Committee was created to drive critical support to all affiliate members and enhance educational efforts around evolving new energy efficient technologies, financing and development of comprehensive efficiency projects.

“I am absolutely honored to have the opportunity to participate in such an important initiative that advances the essential contributions of NAESCO,” said Ms. Courtney. “With the ESCO industry and its partners continuing to expand the market and more innovative energy technologies becoming commercially viable, it is an exciting time to establish the Affiliate Advisory Committee. We will be dedicated to spearheading the education for the industry, as well as its customers that own or operate facilities nationwide, on these ever more advanced and economical energy efficient goods and services to help them achieve sustainability goals and reduce energy costs.”

“A unique strategy and clear differentiation of Energy Focus in the lighting industry is our consistent and indefatigable campaigns to educate our clients on the importance and value of developing and designing breakthrough energy efficient projects based on our leading tubular LED technologies that could significantly reduce buildings’ energy consumption and carbon emissions,” said James Tu, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Energy Focus, Inc. “This collaboration with NAESCO is yet another milestone to expand our advocacy effort and business development initiative in the performance contracting industry, which has played a critical and expanding role in facilitating energy savings projects for both public and private entities alike.”

“Having served as President and National Board Member for the Energy Services Coalition (ESC) and co-founded the ESC Tennessee state chapter in 2009, Rhonda has worked closely with the majority of ESCOs, as well as numerous lighting retrofit contractors across the country in her 22-year dedication to the industry. We are certain she will be able to offer her proven industry expertise to promote innovative energy savings and sustainability strategies to NAESCO’s members,” added Mr. Tu.

Terry E. Singer, executive director of NAESCO said, “Rhonda’s dedication to providing support and education to energy service companies throughout the years has made her a great leader to the Affiliate Advisory Committee. We are confident that this committee will enhance communications among the many providers of goods and services in the performance contracting market and will also help educate ever more sophisticated government and business entities on the importance of implementing long-term sustainable energy efficiency solutions.”
