Black & Veatch Smart Integrated Infrastructure Leader Named to KCnext Board

Fred Ellermeier Brings Innovation Experience to Help Attract New Technology Companies to Kansas City


OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Jan. 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fred Ellermeier has been named to the Board of Directors of KCnext – the Technology Council of Greater Kansas City. KCnext works to grow and promote the technology industry in Kansas City and make it a destination for technology companies and talent.

Ellermeier is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Black & Veatch’s Smart Integrated Infrastructure (SII) business. This group leads Black & Veatch’s involvement in numerous smart city initiatives including Kansas City and other cities in the United States. These efforts are designed to improve the efficiency and operability of the city’s infrastructure systems.

Black & Veatch’s SII group is responsible for projects such as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the world’s largest contiguous electric car supercharger network. It has also worked with the City of Chula Vista, California, to develop the community’s Smart City master plan. The group also developed ASSET360™, a leading data analytics platform. ASSET360™ captures and analyzes huge volumes of data that is used to improve operational performance and apply predictive analytics for more dynamic planning.
