GameFly Partners With LG Electronics to Introduce Video Game Streaming on Smart TVs Worldwide

Partnership Plays Key Role in Global Expansion Efforts

LOS ANGELES, March 01, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GameFly, the leading console game subscription service, today announced a global partnership with LG Electronics, one of the world’s leading consumer electronic brands, to bring the GameFly Streaming service to LG Smart TVs.  The partnership allows GameFly to bring its premium console gaming content to millions of households around the world. The GameFly Streaming App will be offered along with other prime video and music applications to add high value console gaming to the core LG Smart TV experience.  The GameFly Streaming App for LG Smart TV will launch in more than 20 European countries and the USA starting in late April. The service will also be available shortly thereafter in multiple countries worldwide.

“The power is now in consumers' hands to play console quality video games wherever and whenever they want directly on LG Smart TVs,” said Lee Sang-Woo, vice president of HE Business Strategy Function Division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “We are proud to work closely with GameFly Streaming to deliver exciting video game content to audiences worldwide.”

GameFly Streaming’s technology utilizes the cloud to stream console video games over the internet directly to the Smart TV and other media devices.  The service’s convenience, ease and low price will give LG Smart TV owners the ability to play video games without the need for a console or game discs and at a fraction of the cost of a video game.

For one low monthly price, LG Smart TV consumers will be able to subscribe to a gamer pack  (including Tomb Raider Game of the Year, Batman: Arkham Origins, F.E.A.R. 3, Darksiders and Red Faction Armageddon) and a family pack (including Lego Batman 3, Pacman Championship Edition and WRC4).

“We are excited to offer GameFly Streaming on LG Smart TVs,” said David Hodess, CEO of GameFly. “LG’s superior picture quality and performance coupled with their global footprint will allow gamers worldwide to discover and enjoy GameFly Streaming.”

Since GameFly launched its streaming service in 2015, the service has been steadily expanding globally to US, Canada, Europe and Latin America to include 56 countries.

Most 2015 and 2016 LG Smart TVs will support GameFly Streaming. Supported game controllers include Logitech (F310, F510, F710) and Xbox wired controller.
