Seventeen Magazine Names Claire Wineland "Power Teen"

Founder of Claire's Place Foundation honored by Seventeen Magazine as one of 17 teens changing the world

LOS ANGELES, March 8, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Claire's Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF), is proud to announce that its 18-year-old founder, Claire Wineland, has been named one of Seventeen Magazine's "Power Teens" of 2016. Claire is one of just 17 teens featured in the March issue for making a real difference in the world, right now.

The editors of Seventeen Magazine feature Claire as "The LifeSaver." The article highlights, The Clarity Project, her vehicle for connecting with other young CF patients, bringing them support and some needed humor to hospital stays. They also note her founding of Claire's Place Foundation at a very young age of 13 and her fight for happiness despite disabilities.

"For years now media has focused on the vapid and self centered side of young women. It's time for a change," said Claire. "Our values as a society are shifting and this generation of young women are steering the ship. There are so many incredible women out there who are finally getting a chance to show off the good they do for the world, and I am so honored to be considered along side them."

The March issue of Seventeen Magazine featuring the "17 Power Teens" is on stands now.
