LOS ANGELES, March 24, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Michael Van Hecke, M.Ed., president of the Catholic Textbook Project publishing company, today announced that the deadline to submit entries for the publisher’s 2016 History Essay Contest has been extended to April 30, 2016.  The contest is open to all students in Catholic schools, parochial, private or homeschool, in grades 5-12.

This year, there will be six student and school winners. Each student winner will receive a cash prize ranging from $100 to $200 each.

In addition, a $400 Gift Certificate for the company’s textbooks will be awarded to the Catholic school(s) attended by each of the Catholic school student winners.

Catholic homeschools of winning homeschool students will receive a free textbook of their choice from among Catholic Textbook Project history textbooks.

Winning essays will be published on the publisher’s blog and Facebook pages.

“We are very proud of this contest and especially of last year’s impressive four 2015 winners, and their schools and homeschools,” says Van Hecke, who is also headmaster at a Ventura, California-based Catholic school.

Sponsoring a History Essay Contest does more than raise awareness of Catholic Textbook Project’s fresh, engaging History textbooks.  It motivates student learning, and honors students and their schools.
