PASADENA, Texas, March 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Texas Chiropractic College of Pasadena, Texas, would like to congratulate the winners of the recent ACA Rehab Council Conference. Texas Chiropractic College had two students excel in the conference, earning first and second place. The ACA Rehab Council conference was held March 4 through the 6th, 2016.
Charles Son and Rebekah Wilks represented Texas Chiropractic College at the ACA Rehab Council conference and both came back major winners. Each presented cutting edge research projects that they developed in collaboration with members of the Texas Chiropractic College faculty.
Mr. Son and Ms. Wilks won their first and second place awards in the research poster contest portion of the ACA Rehab Council conference. For their accomplishments, each student received an ACA scholarship.
Charles Son, winner of 1st place in the conference, presented a comparison study of the effects of one week of lower body strength training versus proprioceptive exercises that were related to the participant’s vertical jump capacity.
Rebekah Wilks, the winner of 2nd place in the ACA Rehab Council conference, performed a pilot study of the impact of spinal manipulation on reaction time in participants for specific sports. Core proprioception of college students who were suffering with spinal pain was also studied in her project.
Dr. Kimary Farrar and Dr. Cassie Stinson of Texas Chiropractic College faculty provided expert mentorship for student Charles Son as well as assistance with the implementation of his studies for the project. Dr. Jesse Coats of TCC staff performed the spinal manipulation in Rebekah Wilks’ study. The projects both demonstrated the efficacy of key chiropractic techniques on the subjects’ physical health and wellbeing, one of the merits of this conference.
