Vocera Secure Texting Achieves Favorable SOC 2 Audit Report

Audit Validates Vocera’s Communication Platform Meets Strictest Security and Safety Standards

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vocera Communications (NYSE:VCRA), the leading healthcare communications company, announced today that one of the nation's leading registered CPA firms performing SSAE 16 and SOC 2 audits, has completed an in-depth security audit of the Vocera Secure Texting solution. SSAE 16 Professionals has issued an unqualified opinion that Vocera Secure Texting meets the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants criteria for SOC 2 Type 1 report. SOC 2 is recognized worldwide as one of the strictest audit standards for service providers and has provided independent verification of Vocera’s enterprise-class infrastructure, operating controls, and platform security.

“Cyberattacks and data breaches continue to plague the healthcare industry. Using a certified, enterprise-class communication platform helps address these security concerns and protect patient data,” said Gautam M. Shah, vice president of product management at Vocera. “This audit report is one of several commercial and government security milestones Vocera has achieved and reinforces our commitment to safeguard our customers and the patients they serve.”

A SOC 2 Type 1 report provides Vocera Secure Texting customers an independent verification that the Vocera Communication Platform meets the criteria defined by the AICPA Trust Services Principles, which confirms that highly secure and effective control systems are in place to protect data transmitted through the software platform and secure messaging solutions.
