Haivision Announces Compact Rugged Full Motion Video Streaming Appliance for Situational Awareness and ISR Applications at NAB 2016

Kraken CR brings together H.264 and HEVC encoding, transcoding, KLV metadata, all in a small form factor appliance supporting tactical video deployments

MONTREAL, April 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Haivision, a market leader in enterprise video and streaming solutions, announces the Haivision Kraken CR encoder. Designed as a compact rugged video streaming platform for full motion video (FMV) applications and integrating the latest generation high efficiency video compression (HEVC/H.265) standard, the Kraken CR optimizes the video quality of mission critical video workflows supporting situational awareness and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Haivision will exhibit the Kraken CR at NAB 2016. To schedule a meeting, please click here.

The Kraken CR encodes baseband video sources (HD-SDI or composite) and transcodes IP video streams (M-JPEG, MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC/H.265) into efficient high quality HEVC or H.264 streams for transport over bandwidth constrained networks, such as satellite data networks. The Kraken CR can also be used to receive these HEVC streams and re-transcode them back to H.264 for distribution within today's H.264 ecosystems for mission monitoring and video exploitation.

The Kraken CR supports MISP/STANAG compliant KLV metadata and can aggregate metadata information from multiple sources (serial port, Ethernet or embedded SDI-VANC). Haivision is the first and only company to achieve JITC Certification for 1080p HD performance, and is unique in offering both airborne and ground-based JITC Certified HD encoders.

Haivision video encoders are also the only encoders to receive Common Criteria certification, supporting the only international standard for consistent platform security and integrity. Haivision's U.S. Federal and Mission Systems team has assisted our customers with rigid security processes, such as DIACAP, covering in the U.S. Air Force ATO (Authority to Operate), the U.S. Army CoN, (Certificate of Networthiness), and other certifications unique to U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. civilian agencies.

"The Kraken CR has been designed for the specific challenges of the performance workflows of our military and civilian ISR clients," said Craig Powell, vice president global ISR business development, Haivision. "By bringing advanced quality to the video, our clients can make better and more accurate decisions within their mission and emergency management operations."
