Spartan Emergency Response Launches “Spartan Select” for Simpler and Faster Vehicle Configuration

Spartan Emergency Response has created new cab and chassis configurations that package most popular features into Spartan Select models to simplify and speed the ordering and build process for Spartan OEM partners’ customers.

INDIANAPOLIS, April 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spartan Emergency Response (“Spartan”), a business unit of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAR), today announced Spartan Select, two new base configurations for Spartan’s most popular cab and chassis configurations that will speed the ordering process for Spartan OEM partners that build on Spartan’s cab/chassis platforms, and for the fire departments that work with them.

About Spartan Select

The Spartan Select offers Spartan OEM partners with two new base configurations in SPARcon – the Company’s configuration and order entry system - for the Gladiator and Metro Star cab and chassis models, aimed at simplifying and expediting the ordering process. Individual features were chosen based on Spartan’s extensive database of customer-specific configurations, and include those options found in 80 percent of fire department orders.

Drawing on 41 years of chassis building expertise and insights gathered along the way, Spartan’s new configurations will give fire departments the confidence that the cab and chassis they order will meet their requirements at a preferential price point. Beginning with the building blocks of these most optimal specifications, departments will still have the flexibility to add or subtract custom features to satisfy their specific requirements, and best meet their and their customers’ needs.

Spartan to Feature Manufacturing Partners

Spartan will feature the Gladiator and Metro Star chassis – the two models available in Spartan Select configurations – at the annual FDIC International conference, April 21-23 in Indianapolis. This will be the first time in the company’s history that Spartan will display chassis built specifically for customers of its OEM partners.

In booth #8205 at the conference, Spartan will feature a Metro Star Chassis sold by partner Toyne, Inc. to the Tully Fire Department in upstate New York, and a Gladiator Chassis sold by partner 4 Guys Fire Trucks to the Wilkesboro Fire Department in North Carolina.

The cab and chassis on display include Spartan’s Advanced Protection System, a bundle of innovative safety features that protect firefighters while they travel to and from the emergency scene. One in four fire departments answer emergency calls with a Spartan truck, supported by over 100 North American dealers representing Spartan’s OEM partners.

“Since Spartan’s start in 1975 the formula has been simple – build a high-quality custom product, sell it at a fair price, and provide great service,” said John Slawson, President, Spartan Emergency Response. “This unwavering dedication to quality, value, service, and innovation has been the foundation of Spartan’s ongoing commitment to our OEM partners.”
