VelocityEHS and Brady Continue to Streamline GHS Compliant Label Creation with Additional Compatibilities

CHICAGO, April 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VelocityEHS, the leading cloud environment, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability software provider, announced today it has expanded its labeling partnership for its MSDSonline brand chemical management application with Brady, a global leader in industrial and safety printing systems and solutions. MSDSonline users can now create and print workplace labels in the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) format on Brady’s popular 3-inch x 4-inch and 4-inch x 6-inch label stock labels. The expanded functionality gives safety professionals more options to properly communicate chemical hazards throughout their workplace.

While OSHA’s revised Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom) under the GHS guidelines does not outline a specific format for workplace labels, a best practice is to replicate the hazard information found on the chemical manufacturer’s label. With the final GHS deadline (June 1, 2016) fast approaching, employers should expect OSHA to pay more attention to hazardous chemical labeling, a fundamental element of the GHS-aligned HazCom Standard. The joint MSDSonline / Brady solution provides users with tools to streamline the chemical label creation process. Now users can quickly capture and save pertinent information from a safety data sheet and easily incorporate it into the appropriate Brady label format. The addition of these two Brady label sizes now gives MSDSonline users three size options to choose from using Brady’s pre-printed, four-diamond stock labels.

“As we approach the final GHS deadline, it is critical that employers meet the labeling compliance requirements outlined in the standard. Our collaboration with Brady is about a joint commitment to providing the fastest and easiest solutions to help safety professionals better meet today’s HazCom challenges,” said Cassandra Minutillo, MSDSonline product manager at VelocityEHS. “When it comes to chemical labeling, we are leveraging our relationship with Brady to make it easier for safety professionals to comply with regulatory standards and be more effective safety leaders.”

MSDSonline HQ and HQ RegXR Account users currently have access to the Brady printer enhancements, and MSDSonline is further streamlining the workplace label printing process by offering users the ability to make specific Brady label sizes the default print size. All three compatible label sizes can be printed using Brady’s widely-used BBP®31 and BBP®33 label printers.
