MUNKSJÖ OYJ, PRESS RELEASE, 3 May 2016, at 11.30 a.m. CEST

Munksjö becomes a member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®)

As a step to further contribute to responsible management of the World’s forest Munksjö has joined the Forest Stewardship Council.

“The renewable wood fibre is the basis for all our products. We therefore have better reasons than most to proactively promote responsible forest management as it is essential both from an environmental point of view and for our business,” says Jan Åström, CEO.

11 of Munksjö’s 12 larger production units are certified according to FSC® chain-of-custody and all the pulp purchased is certified according to FSC® or has been verified as meeting FSC® Controlled Wood criteria.

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. The vision of FSC® is for the world’s forests to meet the social, ecological, and economic rights and needs of the present generation without compromising those of future generations. The FSC® logo allows consumers to identify, purchase, and use timber and forest products produced from well-managed forests and verified recycled sources. More than 180 million hectares of forest around the world are certified to FSC® standards.
