He leads First Citizens’ commercial banking teams for these markets, focusing on developing and managing relationships with local companies.

Riley rejoins First Citizens from Regions Financial Corporation, where he most recently served as South Carolina Market President for the past six years. Prior to this, he was Market President at the former Wachovia Corporation in Greenville, S.C., but started the first 14 years of his banking career with First Citizens in North Carolina. He has more than 26 years of banking experience, the last 12 based in the Upstate.

Riley’s duties as manager of commercial banking mark a return to First Citizens. He previously served at the bank in the 1990s until 2004 in a number of high-level positions, including credit underwriting, commercial banking and as a managing director for the Private Client Group.
He is actively involved in the community and has served on various boards. He was chairman of the Greenville Area Development Corporation Board in 2011 and 2012 and is the immediate past president of the Greenville Country Club Board of Directors.
Riley received his bachelor’s degree in business administration-finance (1988) and a master’s degree in business administration (1990) from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. He received an All-American Scholar Athlete Award in Golf (1988) and was an NCAA Division I Golf Team Captain.
He is based out of the First Citizens Bank main office in Greenville located at 325 W. McBee Avenue.
