Black & Veatch Names Ed Walsh to Board of Directors

As leader of the company’s largest business, Walsh brings strong track record in global engineering and construction development to the Board

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 12, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ed Walsh, President of Black & Veatch’s power business, has been selected to join the company’s Board of Directors. A senior executive with strong expertise in energy project development, Walsh leads the company’s efforts to meet worldwide demand for reliable power. He has more than 40 years of global engineering and construction experience.

“Ed has deep involvement in our key global markets, fast growing business segments and outstanding leadership ability,” said Steve Edwards, Chairman and CEO. “He has led successful power projects across the world and helped clients meet power needs in rapidly changing business and regulatory environments. In addition, Ed has decades of experience in the global engineering and construction industry.”

Walsh leads the company’s efforts to meet the demand for power in developed and developing countries. This includes setting the strategic direction in delivering cost-competitive and high-quality infrastructure in power generation and delivery for renewable, nuclear and fossil fuel projects. Walsh joined Black & Veatch in 2003 and previously served as Executive Vice President and Executive Director of Global Services Projects. He has led successful power projects in regions that include North America, South Africa, Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC) as well as India, China, Indonesia and Thailand.

“Working together with other Directors to collectively apply the diverse experience that exists on the Board allows us to continue enhancing our understanding of the opportunities our clients have to reach their goals,” said Walsh. “As a result of the strengths and experiences we possess, we are positioned to continue bringing solutions to help clients achieve their business strategies while further strengthening Black & Veatch in the markets we serve.”

The company is well positioned for continued growth with a record backlog in 2016 and a portfolio of projects in diverse markets, services and geographies. Black & Veatch’s strategic intent is focused on continued expansion into India, the GCC countries, Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

“With the continued expansion into new markets and regions, Ed is an excellent addition to the Board and brings his insights and creative capabilities to deliver results for our clients most challenging projects,” Edwards said. “His experience and expertise also will help the Board continue to shape Black & Veatch’s future growth across all our business lines.”
