Marimekko will have its traditional public fashion show, an annual start to the summer season, again on Friday 20 May 2016 at the Esplanade Park in Helsinki. Continuing the tradition Marimekko started already in 1992, the event is free of charge and open to everyone. The shows on Friday will start at 11.30 a.m., 12.30 a.m, 4.00 p.m., and 5.30 p.m.

”Marimekko's annual fashion show in the heart of Helsinki has become a part of the urban culture of the city during the past 25 years, and every year it gathers together thousands of people to celebrate the beginning of the summer with colors and patterns. Our event at the Esplanade Park is a tribute to all friends of Marimekko and I hope that people will enjoy our joyful and colorful show this year as well”, says Marimekko’s President and CEO Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko.

The clothes featured in the fashion show are from Marimekko’s spring and summer 2016 collection that premiered at Paris Fashion Week last October. The collection is the first one created entirely under the direction of Marimekko’s new Creative Director Anna Teurnell. All clothes presented on the runway are available at Marimekko stores as well as online at marimekko.com.
