Lucidworks Appoints Search Veterans to Senior Team

Former CareerBuilder and DataStax Executives Bring Decades of Enterprise Software Experience to Lucidworks

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - May 24, 2016) - Today, Lucidworks, the leading search and analytics software company, announced the addition of Jeff Depa and Trey Grainger as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations and Senior Vice President of Engineering, respectively. Lucidworks tapped Depa and Grainger for their extensive backgrounds in search and analytics to bolster the company's mission to empower organizations to quickly build meaningful data-driven experiences.

"We're working to expand our efforts to be the premier platform for building search and data-driven applications," said Will Hayes, CEO, Lucidworks. "Trey and Jeff's experience and leadership will help drive our product development and customer growth as we continue to design, develop, and deploy intelligent search apps at scale. They're fantastic additions to our team and their expertise will be invaluable to Lucidworks."

As Senior Vice President of Engineering, Grainger will lead engineering efforts for Apache Lucene and Solr, Lucidworks Fusion, and Lucidworks' other product offerings. Previously, Grainger served as Director of Engineering over Search and Recommendations at CareerBuilder, where he led the team to deliver their global semantic search, data analytics, and recommendation engine platform. This platform was fundamental to CareerBuilder's mission of delivering highly accurate and reliable results to match the right people with the right jobs at the right time. Grainger and Tim Potter, Senior Software Engineer at Lucidworks, are coauthors of Solr in Action, the comprehensive example-driven guide to Apache Solr.

"I was attracted to Lucidworks by the interesting data problems they're working to solve, as well as a shared vision for what's possible," Grainger said. "I'm privileged to have the opportunity to work with visionaries in the search space building search technology that will help the masses derive intelligence from their data both at scale and in the tail. Search is a really difficult problem, and I'm excited to be in great company trying to solve that problem well."

Jeff joins Lucidworks as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations. He will head the company's day-to-day field operations, including its rapidly growing sales, alliances and channels, systems engineering and professional services business. With over 17 years of sales and leadership experience, Depa was most recently area vice president at DataStax, where he helped enterprise customers adopt a fully distributed data architecture to better leverage the power of mobile and cloud. Previously, Depa has held leadership positions at Oracle and Sun Microsystems.

"In today's economy, value is driven from creating a unique, personalized and real time experience for customers and employees," said Depa. "Lucidworks is at the forefront of unleashing the value hidden in the massive amount of data companies have collected across disparate systems. They've done a phenomenal job building a platform in Fusion that allows enterprises to deploy a search solution that goes beyond the industry standard, and really focuses on providing the right information at the right time with unique relevancy and machine learning technologies. I'm excited to be part of this team as we continue to drive the adoption of Fusion and other products in the market."

These appointments come on the heels of significant momentum at Lucidworks, which unveiled Lucidworks View last month. The latest extension to Lucidworks' flagship product Fusion, Lucidworks View simplifies Big Data's most significant challenge: connecting to and creating value from a variety of data sources.
